The Easter bunny is (or hopping) in front of the door! Thus begin the preparations for the big Easter dinner with the whole family. This is not the easiest task: After all, everything should be perfect during the holidays and no one should go home with a rumbling stomach. We have great Easter dinner ideas that will make you the star chef among your loved ones.
Easter meal ideas: what should be on the table?
Of course: brightly colored Easter eggs and chocolate Easter bunnies are prepared for the Easter meal. But what does Germany actually eat during the special holidays?
Easter lamb is traditional, especially in the form of a cake. However, the doughy counterpart of roast lamb is time consuming. Because Easter lamb needs to be cooked in the right shape and takes a while in the oven. Instead of a real fillet of lamb, hare or pheasant in sauce are often found on German plates, served with boiled potatoes. It’s easier too…
Starter: Easter bunny carrot soup
What does an Easter bunny like to snack on? That’s right, carrots! So if you want to stay true to the motto, cook a delicious carrot soup as a starter. So of course one of the menus sets a fresh tone – and the carrot soup is super easy: boil carrots, potatoes, celery and lots of spices in vegetable broth until all ingredients are tender.
Our favorite spices: Fresh herbs such as chives, curry and cayenne pepper for a spicy kick and a little ginger. Season with salt and pepper. At the end, purée the soup with a blender like the one from WMF*. 800 milliliters fit in the device, thanks to the five function levels, it chops everything from fruits to nuts. Refine the carrot soup at the end with sour cream or fresh cream.
Ingredient list: Carrot soup for Easter dinner
- 400 grams of carrots
- 200 grams of potatoes
- 100 grams of celery
- 0.8 l vegetable stock
- Sour cream (alternative: sour cream)
- Herbs (eg chives, parsley or dill)
- Spices (curry, pepper, ginger and cayenne)
Alternate Recipe: Fruity Carrot Soup with Mango
The main dish at Easter: A roast is a must!
A juicy roast with fresh baked potatoes, croquettes or fried potatoes and seasonal vegetables like asparagus is an absolute must to keep every gourmet at the table satisfied. A prepared roast is enough for the whole family and is a delicious protein after a vegetable soup. If you like it juicy and tender, opt for a rolled roast.
And it’s actually quite simple: spread a pork neck with roasted onions, dried meat, mustard and spices and roll it up. It is best to tie it with roasting twine. Then bake in the oven or grill on a contact grill like the one from WMF*. The advantage: thanks to sensor technology, the grill indicates when the meat has reached the perfect cooking point. It does not dry out and melts well in the mouth.
Ingredient list: Roast pork
- 2 kg pork neck
- 150g roasted onions
- 10 slices of beef jerky
- 1 tablespoon of mustard
- 1 clove of garlic
- 1 bunch of parsley
- Salt, Pepper & Co.

Side dish recipes for Easter dinner:
Easter dinner without eggs? This side dish is one of them!
At Easter, it’s not just the colored eggs to nibble on that we love. The main dish can also have either egg dish ready. Deviled eggs as bites are particularly good. Best of all: you’re gone in no time.
Because you only need three ingredients to prepare the Easter meal idea. Mayonnaise, herbs of your choice and eggs. Egg yolk is removed from hard-boiled eggs and mixed with mayonnaise and some seasonal herbs. Then the egg-mayo mixture is squirted back into the cavity – this works best with a piping bag like Kaiser’s*.
List of ingredients: Deviled eggs
- 12 eggs
- 3 tablespoons mayonnaise
- 3 tablespoons of herbs

Tip: An egg cooker* can be useful for preparing the eggs. The advantage: the eggs are cooked to perfection with it. It is ideal for hard-boiled eggs. Because: If you boil eggs too long, you can get green or blue yolks. Egg yolk reacts too long to cooking. Iron and sulfur compounds produce iron sulfide, which has a greenish sheen. With an egg cooker, you can create perfectly yellow egg yolks that will look beautiful for Easter.
Easter meal idea: A light dessert for gourmets
A delicious Easter meal ends with a delicious dessert. If you don’t have a lot of time to prepare, a dessert in a glass is a good choice. Dessert can be prepared the night before and refrigerated overnight. This allows the aromas to unfold much better. Our advice: a fruity parfait with a choice of yogurt, low-fat fromage blanc or mascarpone.
As a layered dessert in a glass, the dessert also looks great. To do this, crumble the biscuits of your choice in the glass* in the first layer and cover with a refined sugar cream. Drape the fruit of your choice over the top. The favorites are raspberries, strawberries or cooked fruit mousse. Mint gives a cool kick as a little garnish.
List of ingredients: Layered raspberry dessert (4 servings)
- 8 cookies
- 8 tablespoons mascarpone
- 400 g raspberries, strawberries or mango
- 2 tablespoons of sugar
- mint
